"I have been through other treatment facilities and Greystone is the only program that has worked for me. It goes beyond the expectations of recovery. You get what you put into it. I had no direction, no purpose, no goals or any roof over my head and I was spiritually bankrupt. I was defensive and ego driven and always sick from withdrawing from alcohol. Enough was enough. I knew I needed help.

After Greystone, my goal was peace of mind and I knew it wasn’t going to be easy but I was willing and been through treatment and detoxes and half-way houses before. Now I have a sense of purpose, I gained my humility back and love myself and to be available to my family. I have never stolen from my family but after treatment I realized I have stolen the time of availability. I have been able to give that back to my family and I am a brother and son again.

I have been in treatment for alcohol, half-way houses, a lot of detox facilities, a few mental institutions, and a lot of hospitals for withdrawal and of course the streets.

It’s a no-brainer Greystone has a home like atmosphere with a caring family with determination to help you with everything you need. To me, 90 days of treatment doesn’t work. You need time to reach underlying issues on why we abuse alcohol and or drugs. Usually childhood traumas, mental disorders, and tragic past. Time, facing your fears, patience with yourself and others and being aware of your values and accountability are why it works here.

I have a lot of deja-vu reminding me where I am supposed to be, and validated my purpose of healing. Being in the mix of failures and successes made me focus more on myself, like I am stronger than I thought. I think it was easier for me because I accepted and embraced the process. Respecting and having gratitude and not taking the present for granted.

Upon signing for consent, you are a resident and in treatment and it is going to be consistent and structured. You will learn how to cope and gain healthy boundaries, face your fears, and figure out why we depend on alcohol and or drugs. You will actually know the definition of denial and mature to adulthood finally.

I have been through other treatment facilities and Greystone is the only program that has worked for me. It goes beyond the expectations of recovery. You get what you put into it. You do well and are supported to further your goals by the staff and Program Director. You are in a safe environment, physically, mentally and spiritually.

"During my stay at Greystone, I was able to push my boundaries like being a house leader and being a part of a program that requires you to continuously work on your goals. It also helped me to be productive which helped me figure out a lot about myself and what I am capable of."

My name is Aaron S. and I’m Navajo, Hopi and Tohono O’odham. I am 27 years old and was born and raised in Arizona. Before coming to Greystone, I was using drugs and alcohol and had been since I was 13. Over the span of my 9 years struggling with this problem it caused many problems for me constantly going in and out of jail and hospitals. I started my treatment in October 2019 and only intended staying 2 months. I’m very proud to say I stayed a full year in the program.

I quickly realized after coming to Greystone that I needed more help with addressing the core reasons I’ve struggled so hard with addiction. They were able to help me address these issues and allowed me many opportunities to work on the things I needed to in an environment that resembles one of a family and with people with very similar backgrounds.

I became a father in February 2022 to my beautiful daughter. My best accomplishments since leaving Greystone have to be becoming a father and raising my daughter. Greystone House has a lot to do with my success. I would like to personally thank Alex, Leticia, and Luis and all the staff who helped me throughout my stay.

I was also given an opportunity to do extra curriculars like playing in a men’s basketball league and also taking online classes for college. We also focused on a plan for after treatment which included coming to work for their company. I’ve been sober since March 2019 and many things have happened since starting my journey in sobriety.

If you’re thinking of coming to Greystone House, I personally would say it’s a great program from experience. During my stay at Greystone, I was able to push my boundaries like being a house leader and being a part of a program that requires you to continuously work on your goals. It also helped me to be productive which helped me figure out a lot about myself and what I am capable of. The program itself has gotten better over time and only continues to grow and improve.

"Greystone opened up opportunities that I never would have thought possible. I can honestly say that I am truly happy with where my life is headed. I’m not saying it’s easy, but with hard work and determination, you can achieve anything, within reason."

Before I came to Greystone, I was lonely, depressed, and I had no future. My life was a revolving door that revolved around drugs, alcohol, and chaos. I had no responsibilities. I didn’t know what it meant to live.

Greystone worked for me. I was provided with support from the staff who truly cared about my success. For the first six months, I learned to maintain difficult emotions during chaotic situations. This didn’t come easy for me as someone who is used to drowning these emotions with drugs and alcohol. But I was able to utilize some coping skills that I picked up along the way. The second 6 months, I was provided with the opportunity to go back to school which is something that helped me to set my future. I am now enrolled at GCC with dreams of
becoming a Forest Ranger.

There has been a lot of memorable moments here at Greystone that include me and my peers at the time. Some of the things we did were play basketball, bowling hiking, going to the movies, going to the lake, fishing, and going to the gym. These are memorable for me because they taught me that I can have fun without the use of drugs and alcohol.

Anyone coming to Greystone can expect structure, security, and support. Living life on life’s terms isn’t easy, but it does get better. You will get what you put into the program. There are classes every day that will help you learn how to manage anxiety, stress, and depression in a healthy manner. You will be able to open up about past traumas in a safe and supportive environment to let go and move forward.

I would recommend Greystone because, through experience, it works. It worked for me. Greystone opened up opportunities that I never would have thought possible. I can honestly say that I am truly happy with where my life is headed. I’m not saying it’s easy, but with hard work and determination, you can achieve anything, within reason.

"I strongly recommend Greystone to anyone who is struggling to find their footing. This place has definitely given me the support, the love, and understanding I needed to get back to what god truly has planned for me."

My name is Cassandra L. I am from the Salt-River Pima Maricopa Indian community. I am a recovering addict and alcoholic and I have 2 years of being clean and sober. Before coming to Greystone, I had just graduated from a treatment facility with 7 months sobriety but I decided that it was time for me to actually take this seriously and seek more help.

I knew that deep down in my heart if I went back home, I would relapse. I’ve been in and out of treatment for 5 years so with this step I was taking was definitely a leap of faith. Little did I know that it would be one of the best decisions I made for myself.

I decided to stay the full 1-year program, get a sponsor, and actually put my all into this whole program. After completing the program and graduating my life has blossomed with so many blessings. I got my driver’s license back, I’m currently finishing up G.E.D, my son is back in my life, I live in a safe environment, and I also have a stable job, the list keeps going!

The reason why I think Greystone works is because of the support, the family environment, feeling safe, and the love and understanding you get from staff and peers. Most of all though, the tools to help you cope and deal with addiction.

Some special moments I had with my stay at Greystone was when I was awarded student of the month for my G.E.D. from my community. I actually submitted a written letter for the G.E.D newsletter asking for the council to consider supporting the flexibility of Salt-River remote G.E.D. instruction for supporting indigenous ways and healing processes that are woven into the recovery process and that also help the homeless. I got to speak in front of council to share my story and how I am reaching my goals.

I truly believe what you get what you put into the program. You get back opportunities to help yourself and become the person you truly are meant to be.

I strongly recommend Greystone to anyone who is struggling to find their footing. This place has definitely given me the support, the love, and understanding I needed to get back to what god truly has planned for me.
